Elina Nechayeva (Netshajeva, Netšajeva) was born in Tallinn. Elina’s family is of Estonian, Russian and Chuvash descent. It is from this diversity that she developed her talent for languages fluently speaking Estonian, Russian, English, French and Italian. She sang for 15 years in a choir “Raduga”. She graduated from the French Lyceum in Tallinn in 2011 and studied at Georg Ots’s class at the preparatory course at the Tallinn Music School. In 2011-2014 Elina studied singing at the Tallinn Institute of the Arts in Eda Zaharova’s singing class. In 2016 she had graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater with a Master’s degree in classical singing.
Elina differs from the others with her cheerfulness and good styling. She has twice competed in the TV show “Eesti otsib superstaari”, and in 2014 in the “Klassikatähed 2014” competition she has finished among three finalists. Elina has participated in various song competitions in Estonia and abroad. In 2010, she won first place in the Schools’ Russian ballad competition. In the international competition of young singers at the Classical Vocal in Kohtla-Järve, she won the III Prize and the title of laureate in the older age group. Elina is a hardworking professional and aims to perform opera on the largest stages in the world. She takes very good care of her powerful instrument, her voice, and loves to begin her mornings with a yoga session and a jog. She tries to walk whenever and wherever she can and instead of coffee, uses dark chocolate as her secret energiser. Perhaps the most important part of her health regiment is that she always stays happy and positive!
When she has a moment to relax Elina likes to indulge her passion for animation. She is a big fan of all the classic Disney Princess cartoons and has a love of Japanese Anime – especially those by Hayao Miyazaki. A huge classical music fan, she counts Mozart and Tchaikovsky among her favourite composers. She enjoys the clear structure of Mozart’s music and the passion and rich soul of Tchaikovsky. This shows also the two sides of her vivid personality – playful, yet formidable.
As a child, she dreamed of becoming an astronaut, flying between the stars and planets. It is this same drive that inspired La Forza. On the Eurovision stage Elina will fly between the stars to spread her message that love heals and lifts us. The melody of La Forza was written especially for her voice and shining personality. Less than three months after the 100th anniversary of Estonian Independence, Elina is hoping to give her beloved homeland another reason to be proud and celebrate.
Elina Nechayeva wrote the lyrics of La Forza alongside fellow soprano Ksenia Kuchukova. The music was composed by Mihkel Mattisen, a classically trained pianist and pop singer and composer, and Timo Vendt, a producer and multi-instrumentalist.
